Course Detail: SAW-1000 - Airport Wildlife Management (ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS)

Overview

Globally, wildlife strikes killed more than 464 people and destroyed over 305 aircraft from 1988-2022 according to a report by the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA). Wildlife Management at airports is essential to maintain an adequate level of safety for aircraft operations. This course was designed in accordance with recommendations from ICAO Annex 14 and Part 3 of Document 9137, using case studies of best practices from around the world, leveraging on years of practical experience from Singapore's Aerodrome Wildlife Specialist, Mastermark.

 

Who should attend?

This course is intended to add actionable value for airport and wildlife managers, officers and staff especially those active in Safety, Operations and Emergency departments. Aviation leaders, policymakers and wildlife enthusiasts are also welcome.

This course provides a complete overview of the critical components involved in a Wildlife Hazard Management Program, integrating aviation knowledge and its stakeholders together with a broad understanding of wildlife and habitat management. Participants will review developments in technology, dispersal and data collection equipment and explore a broad spectrum of management strategies and methodologies.

Upon the completion of this course, participants should be able to

  1. Appreciate the key elements of wildlife and habitat management in the context of aviation
  2. Assess the possible variations in wildlife species and behaviours within and around the aerodrome
  3. Evaluate different control measures, and intervention techniques adopted to mitigate risks due to wildlife hazards
  4. Understand how to plan, execute and evaluate a Wildlife Hazard Management Programme specific to an airport's situation

Requests to withdraw made after this deadline are not eligible for any refund; however, a one-time transfer to the next session may be possible. Requests to withdraw should be sent by
