Biography: Luis Tobar is an Aviation Safety Program Manager, Adjunct Professor, and technology innovator at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a relentless passion for aviation safety, artificial intelligence, automation, and solving complex problems. With a master's degree in Aviation Safety and ongoing studies in Software Engineering, Luis challenges conventional approaches to aviation risk management by developing intelligent systems that enhance safety investigations, identify emerging operational risks, and reimagine how aviation safety information is analyzed and understood. His work spans AI-powered safety analysis, flight data monitoring, machine learning, and the development of sophisticated automation tools designed to make aviation operations safer, smarter, and more efficient. His fascination with technology extends far beyond aviation. From engineering self-hosted AI infrastructure to building an intelligent home monitoring system capable of analyzing environmental conditions, recognizing potential issues, and recommending corrective actions, Luis treats everyday challenges as opportunities for innovation. His projects range from AI-assisted home monitoring and automated maintenance insights to custom applications that simplify daily life, even managing the care of his dogs (Ollie and Miko). For Luis, the line between professional engineering and personal experimentation barely exists; if something can be connected, analyzed, automated, or improved, he will find a way to build it. Combining aviation safety expertise with an unconventional approach to problem-solving, Luis is driven by the belief that even the most established systems can be reimagined and improved. Fueled by relentless curiosity and an obsession with understanding how things work, he approaches every challenge with one question: "What if we could make this smarter?" |
