Peter Agur
Biography: Pete Agur was the O'Maley College of Business' first Executive in Residence. He is also the Chairman/ Founder of The VanAllen Group, a business aviation management consulting firm. He began his consulting career in 1985. VanAllen starts business aviation departments and supports their continuous improvement; strategically and operationally. Their 400+ clients include many FORTUNE 1000 companies, numerous billionaires and their family offices, and several royal families. 

His work has been cited in The Wall Street Journal, FORTUNE, Business and Commercial Aviation, and others. Pete is an educational and inspirational speaker. His subjects focus on leadership and safety. His venues have included many major industry events and universities. Pete is also widely recognized as a thought leader and author. He has had over 100 articles published in over a dozen different industry periodicals as well as FORTUNE and Robb Report magazines. 

Prior to establishing VanAllen, Pete enjoyed roles as: 
  • Army aviator and safety officer during the Viet Nam era. 
  • Instructor pilot in airline, civil, and military environments (achieving CFI-AIR, Gold Seal) 
  • Marketing manager, sales representative, and demonstration/production test pilot for four domestic and international airframe manufacturers. 

Pete's other accomplishments include: 
  • Produced and facilitated the first NBAA Schedulers and Dispatchers Conference 
  • Founded, produced, and facilitated multiple NBAA Leadership Conferences 
  • NBAA Convention chairman 
  • Co-founded the NBAA Certified Aviation Manager program 
  • Founded Georgia State University's Business Aviation Leadership certification program 
  • Organized/facilitated multiple Flight Safety Foundation Business Aviation Safety Seminars 
  • Presented numerous papers at the Flight Safety Foundation's Business Aviation Safety Seminar 
  • Former board member of the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation 
  • Board member of the Tri-State Warbird Museum 
  • President's Visioning Committee for ERAU's College of Business 

Pete holds an MBA from Georgia State University and a BS (summa cum laude) in Aeronautical Sciences from Denver's Metropolitan State University. He has Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) designation from the NBAA. For many years he was on the Flight Safety Foundation's Corporate Advisory Committee and was its Vice-Chairman, was a member of both the NBAA's Corporate Aviation Management Committee and Safety Committee (founding member), as well as the Business Aviation Advisory Panel for The Robb Report. 

In 2018 Pete was recognized twice for his "lifelong" contributions to the industry: The Flight Safety Foundation's Business Aviation Meritorious Service Award and the NBAA's John P. "Jack" Doswell Award. He is a member of the Aviation Speakers Bureau. His ratings include ATP Multi-Engine Land, Commercial SEL & Helicopter, and Private Glider. He has 5,400 accident and incident free hours in 80+ different types of aircraft and remains an active aviator in his F33A Bonanza.
