Achim Ruff-Stahl
Biography: Dr. Achim Ruff-Stahl is trained as a fighter pilot in the German Air Force and has logged more than 3000 hours in the MiG-29 Fulcrum, F-4 F Phantom II, and T-38 Talon. He taught many students as a military instructor pilot and as a graduate of the USAF-GAF Fighter Weapons School both in operational squadrons and at NATO's Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training program at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas. Besides that, Dr. Ruff-Stahl has been a squadron commander and vice wing commander in his career. During various assignments in the German Ministry of Defense, he managed the implementation of safety and human factors in military aviation and supervised an international System Safety Management Case on the integration of large size UAS in the European air traffic system. On a tour in Afghanistan, he served as the head of flight operations, safety, and security of Mazar-e Sharif International Airport. Dr. Ruff-Stahl currently is the German defense attaché for Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.Dr. Ruff-Stahl received his Master of Science in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle and a Master of Strategic Studies from the USAF Air War College in Montgomery, Alabama. He has two Ph.D.'s, one in Cultural and Political Sciences from Humboldt University of Berlin and a second in Media and Communications from the European Graduate School. Apart from that, he holds an Airline Transport Pilot and Flight Engineer license. Dr. Ruff-Stahl has done extensive research and publishes regularly in the fields of safety, strategy, human factors, and aviation.
