Biography: Dr. Radu Babiceanu received his Ph.D. degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech in 2005. Currently, he is the Interim Chair & Professor of Systems Engineering with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) in Daytona Beach, Florida. He also serves as the Director for the ERAU's Cybersecurity and Assured Systems Engineering Center (CyBASE). 

Dr. Babiceanu has also worked as a systems engineering consultant for Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation covering areas such as requirements-based testing for the implementation verification process, and development assurance activities.Dr. Babiceanu teaches systems engineering courses, such as Fundamentals of Systems Engineering, System Architecture Design, System Quality Assurance, and System Safety and Certification. He also develops and designs customized short-course training for industry in the area of system safety engineering and certification. Dr. Babiceanu covers newer topics such as Industrial Internet of Things Modeling and Simulation. One of his teaching objectives is to familiarize students with systems thinking and systems engineering methods for solving real-world engineering problems. 

Dr. Babiceanu serves as Associate Editor and on Editorial Boards for several well-known journals. He has published more than 80 papers in reputed journal and conference proceedings. His research uses systems engineering methodologies for the design, assurance, and operation of large-scale systems, such as enterprise, aviation, logistics, and transportation systems. His research interests are in the aviation and aerospace systems domain, with emphasize in cybersecurity and safety-critical systems assurance and certification, formal modeling and verification, and overall systems engineering.
