Course Detail: LLMAMA - Mama Didn't Leave a List
This two-part course will highlight important laws and practical considerations in estate and end-of-life care planning, as well as estate administration. Part I will discuss the legal documents necessary to ensure that a person's wishes regarding property distribution, financial management, health and end-of-life care are followed. Part I will also cover property transfers, asset preservations, the creation of life estates and planning techniques that can limit financial costs and minimize emotional strain on loved ones.

Part II will focus on inheritance laws, the estate administration process, costs related to estate administration, basic estate taxation laws, and will also cover Medicaid recovery rules. This course is not intended as a substitute for legal advice for a particular case.

Biography: Charlotte-Anne T. Alexander practices with the Greenville law firm of Colombo, Kitchin, Dunn, Ball & Porter, LLP, focusing primarily on elder law, including estate planning/administration, asset protection and guardianships. A past president of the Pitt County Bar Association and 3A Judicial District Bar, as well as Greenville Noon Rotary Immediate Past President, Ms. Alexander currently is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and serves on the North Carolina Bar Association's Elder Law/Special Needs Law Section Council.
