Course Detail: CSIBOB - Basic Observation Buoy Outreach (BOB)
Founded in 2003, the University of North Carolina Coastal Studies Institute (UNC CSI) is an inter-university marine science research and education institute located on Roanoke Island, North Carolina. The K-12 programs offered at UNC CSI align with both NC Essential Standards and Next Generation Science Standards. In addition, the programs utilize the current research projects of UNC CSI faculty and scientists to provide students with a unique, engaging experience that will make scientific concepts relevant. Programs include field based programs and laboratory investigations.

Student teams deploy an observational water quality buoy in local waters near the school to collect data for up to a week. Through this program students learn how to problem solve, analyze data, program sensors and they investigate water quality issues in North Carolina.
