We take a look at how Zen Buddhist koans and joke psychology can shed light on parables, a highly effective teaching method used by Jesus. I think the parables are often misunderstood in ways that diminish their potency. We will explore new ways to appreciate the parables, which may very well involve ways that Jesus intended. All this will be explored in the context of looking closely at several parables and in ways with which you are likely unfamiliar.
