This course surveys children's literature for all ages in genres that may include picture books, myths and folklore, poetry, nonfiction, historical fiction and fantasy, making connections to the historical, cultural, institutional and psychological contexts related to production and reception. Examines how texts represent childhood and reflect assumptions about the social and educational function of children's and young adult literature. This is a non-credit Community Education course, taken with credit students. You will not receive college credit.

Dive in to the world of digital photography. Learn how to capture a beautiful image and use simple photo editing techniques to create a final product. Course includes an overview of basic camera controls as well as post-processing techniques.

Mapmaking With Watercolor Youth Camp
Create your own adventure map of Central Oregon! Using beginner-friendly watercolor techniques, students will learn how to layer color and design map elements while learning to highlight trails, mountains, rivers, and favorite outdoor spots. Campers will explore creativity, practice observation skills and build confidence using watercolor and sketching tools. Each student will take home their original and framed illustrated map at the end of camp. Ages 10-15.

Shapes of Oregon: Creative Collages Youth Camp
Explore Oregon through color, texture and imagination! In this creative collage camp, students will use pre-cut papers, patterns and layered shapes to design their own bold landscape inspired by Central Oregon's mountains, forest and skies. Campers will learn how to combine colors, build depth and arrange shapes to create a scene that feels vibrant and full of life. With hands-on guidance and room for personal style, every student will assemble a framed collage to take home. Ages 10-15.

Adventure Writing Youth Camp
Embark on an unforgettable journey with new friends in our youth adventure writing camp! Experience the thrill of bringing your imagination to life through dynamic writing exercises and interactive activities designed to ignite your creativity. Join us as we explore the many realms, from fantasy to sci-fi to our own internal worlds. From crafting your own unique tales and epic quests, to bringing your own unique characters to life, this camp is a playground for exploration and discovery, and connecting with others who love writing just as much as you do. Ages 10-15.

Sewing: Fashion Exploration Youth Camp
Join a fashion workshop this summer for 4 days of fashion exploration! Students will learn how to use a sewing machine and serger, learn about personal style, fashion silhouettes, illustration, textiles and pattern drafting with draping on a mannequin. Students can experiment with many different techniques and tools, or focus on creating their own original design. Each student will work in their own sketchbook that they will take home at the end of camp to continue developing as a portfolio. This fashion workshop provides all the equipment and supplies, and respects each unique student's learning preferences. Ages 10-15.
