Learn Taekwondo! Master Jung offers expert training in traditional martial arts, focusing on discipline, respect and physical fitness. Taekwondo gives a total body workout while providing stress relief, practical self-defense skills and increased self-confidence. Classes are taught at Master Jung's studio, Deschutes Jung's Taekwondo, and are open to community members 16 and above. This 8-week class is held once per week and leads up to optional belt testing. Master Jung is 4th-degree black belt in Taekwondo, 1st-degree blackbelt in Judo and Hapkido, and a professional boxer.

Embark on a high-demand entry level health care profession as a Phlebotomist, performing blood collection to obtain high quality specimens for clinical laboratory analysis in hospitals, clinics, medical laboratories and donor centers. Upon completion of this 11-week course combining online learning with hands-on lab sessions (6 hours per week), you'll gain the skills needed for an entry-level Phlebotomist position and be eligible to take a national certification exam.

Designed for those at the beginner to advanced beginner level, this course introduces the foundational techniques of working with clay using only your hands and simple tools. Students will explore multiple hand building techniques including: press, hump/slump and slip casting molds, box forms with lids, and coil and slab sculpture. This course provides a supportive environment to experiment with personal expression whether you're looking to try something new, or start your journey in ceramics.

Students will learn various techniques of working with clay through demonstrations and specific projects. Those with prior clay experience will review techniques and expand their skill level in both wheel throwing and hand building. Restorative yoga is a powerful sequence of supported therapeutic postures to turn on the body's natural healing capacity. Living Well with Chronic Pain is a 6-week evidence-based program developed by Stanford University and the Self-Management Resource Center. This class is for anyone with a chronic pain diagnosis, or who experiences chronic neck, shoulder or back pain; fibromyalgia; repetitive strain injury; neuropathic pain or neuralgias; and those who experience persistent headache and/or other, severe muscular pain. Did you know henna has a rich history dating back to the Egyptians? Famously known as "mehndi", this class explores the vast art of henna, its cultural traditions and safe application on the body and other textiles. This course will teach you the history and ever-changing culture of henna body art, learning how to roll a henna cone, creating your own fresh henna recipe for paste, and practicing a selection of essential designs to jumpstart your artistic style.  You will walk away with a deeper understanding of henna's roots as a form of body art and its therapeutic value. Henna safety and the precautions needed in using various ingredients will be covered**. You'll come away from this class with your very own custom henna kit that includes all-natural henna paste, aftercare information and everything you need to practice on your own or with others.

**For health and safety, mild essential oils will be used in this course. An alternate paste will be available for those who are sensitive to lemons, essential oils on the skin, or a rare G6 anemia disorder. Please inform your instructor before class if this applies to you.

Wondering what medicinal herbs grow in Central Oregon? This class will teach us how to identify and use medicinal plants. We will learn about how to ethically wildcraft herbs, which herbs are poisonous, and how Native People traditionally used plants. This class includes a lecture on local plants and culminates in a trip to Lookout Mountain to identify plants in their native habitat. The hike is moderate 3.0-3.5, with gains between 1,000-1,500 ft in elevation. Students are responsible for their own transportation to field location.

In this camp, students will experience the exciting field of Manga drawing, an immersive storytelling style made popular in Japanese comics. Students will learn the basics of illustration in the Manga style, and will have time to practice sketching people, facial features, hair, clothing, gesture and facial expression, as well as learning inking and color techniques. Principles of drawing and using colored pencils will be utilized. At the end of the camp, students will have created their own Manga character! No experience necessary in drawing to join the fun! Birdwatching: Wings of Summer Youth Camp
Put a bird on it! Explore the beautiful world of birds with this camp that combines a little bit of time in the classroom each morning, followed by a birding field trip to an area park. Join a fashion workshop this summer for 4 days of fashion exploration! Students will learn how to use a sewing machine and serger, learn about personal style, fashion silhouettes, illustration, textiles and pattern drafting with draping on a mannequin. Students can experiment with many different techniques and tools, or focus on creating their own original design. Each student will work in their own sketchbook that they will take home at the end of camp to continue developing as a portfolio. Stop motion animation brings static objects to life on screen with an iPad and a variety of mixed media arts. The attitude of the Stop Motion Animation Youth Camp: if you can dream it, you can do it! Animation campers will explore story planning, set design, character development and prop-making using paper, clay, drawings and other materials. Students will add cool themes, titles, sound effects and other digital effects to give the movies a unique look and feel. Campers will apply their new knowledge to craft their own stories and create an animated scene as their project.
