Biography: David has lived in Bend since the early 2000's. He has been teaching Spanish at Summit High School since 2013 and loves his role as a language instructor. David spent a year teaching in Chile and traveled throughout much of Latin America. He has a deep appreciation for the Spanish language but loves the people and cultures of the vast Spanish-speaking world most of all. He says it is an honor to share his passion for the language with others and hopes to inspire students to enjoy it as much as he does! |

COSSI Group E Language Lab: Advanced High-Superior
This blended level course is for the most advanced students and will include concepts from levels advanced high and superior to create a robust and challenging course. Students must have a minimum of three years of college level Spanish or the equivalent in Spanish speaking experience. This course will review the contrasts between the preterit and imperfect tenses and the uses of the present subjunctive mood. Additional concepts will include an introduction to the imperfect subjunctive mood and its uses and the conditional tense and its uses. Grammatical structures and vocabulary will be highlighted through literary selections, business terminology and idiomatic expressions, proverbs, synonyms and antonyms. Other topics include: the pronoun "se," complex sentences and new literary vocabulary, recognition of the different accents of the Spanish-speaking world and how to improve one's own Spanish accent. Group E will be taught using 70%-90% comprehensible Spanish at this level.

Intermediate Conversational Spanish: Past, Future and Conditional Tense
Take your Spanish-speaking skills to a higher level in this intermediate language class. Build confidence in daily conversation and gain additional vocabulary and communication skills. This course will reinforce stem-changing, irregular, and reflexive verbs; practice Preterite, Imperfect and Present tenses; and introduce Past Perfect, Future and Conditional tenses.
