Shapes of Oregon: Creative Collages Youth Camp

In this creative collage camp, students will use pre-cut papers, patterns and layered shapes to design their own bold landscape inspired by Central Oregon's mountains, forest and skies. DIY: Construction Framing Basics Made Easy

Using a mixture of lecture and hands-on application, your expert instructor will guide you through the importance of using scale and design before building, foundation basics, the components of a typical wall framing system, framing and truss layout and roof system basics. Conversational Spanish II will pick up where Conversational Spanish I left off. This course is for novice students with some Spanish language instruction. Redmond Community Choir

Redmond Community Choir provides an opportunity for amateur singers to participate in a fun choral singing experience. This non-auditioned ensemble will learn and perform a wide variety of musical styles and genres including classical, pop, sacred, jazz and spiritual. The course will culminate with a concert performance at the end of the term. All experience levels are welcome. Bring $25 (cash or check) for a music rental fee to the first class session.

Sewing with a Serger

Sergers are incredibly useful for sewing but can be frustrating to master. These machines trim raw fabric edges and simultaneously weave a clean and professional-looking seam finish around them. A serger supplements your regular sewing machine and is indispensable for sewing stretch knit garments. But moving blades, complicated threading diagrams, four separate tension settings and all those other dials can be intimidating. In this course, each aspect of a serger use will be explained, step-by-step, allowing sewists to serge with confidence and bring their sewing projects to the next level. 
 
As the class covers the use of basic mechanical sergers, the students must bring their own serger so they can become familiar with the machine they will be using at home. Your serger must be in good working order. This class is designed to teach you how to operate and gain confidence using your serger, not to repair or restore machines that have mechanical issues or have been sitting unused for years. If your machine is missing parts, has known mechanical problems, or is not functioning properly, it may prevent you from fully participating in class.

The instructor has two sergers available at no additional cost for students who do not own a serger or whose machine is not in working order. These machines are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like to reserve one, you must notify Community Education at the time you register for the class. Once the two loaner machines have been reserved, students will need to bring their own functioning serger.

Even well-designed change initiatives can struggle when leaders don't understand how people experience change internally. This applied leadership lab helps participants understand the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral dynamics that shape how individuals and teams respond to change-and what leaders can do to guide transitions more effectively.Participants will explore key energy states (catabolic and anabolic), fixed versus growth mindsets, and how these influence motivation, resistance, and engagement during change initiatives. Using the SCARF Model and the William Bridges Transition Model, the lab provides practical tools for recognizing common change responses, strengthening psychological safety, and supporting teams through uncertainty. Interactive exercises focus on translating insight into workplace-ready strategies participants can apply immediately.

Conversational Spanish III

Take your Spanish-speaking skills to a higher level in this intermediate language class. Build confidence in daily conversation and gain additional vocabulary and communication skills. Students and instructor will converse primarily in Spanish to give a full immersion experience and to train students to hear the language as well as speak it. Students must have completed Conversational Spanish II or have had recent Spanish language experience. In this class, we will cover present and past tenses.
