Instructor: Shannon Hodgen

Shannon Hodgen
Biography: From the beginning of life, Shannon was deemed an "Enthusiastic Eater," due to her love of food, her willingness to cook and eat anything and share the experience with others. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Shannon adventured, ate, cooked, expeditioned, taught, counseled and finally in 2016 landed back in her home state of Oregon. Shannon worked as a Marriage and Family Therapist, a High School Administrator and a Middle and High School Teacher among other professions. During these experiences, Shannon had always felt the underlying desire to experience culinary school, and so in 2016, she left her job as Director of Student Services at Idyllwild Arts Academy in Idyllwild, California, and began a new life in Bend, Oregon... a special place she knew from her childhood. She happily and successfully attended Cascade Culinary Institute in Bend, and graduated with her Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts in June of 2018. Currently, Shannon continues to live and play in Bend, working as a line cook in a popular local restaurant, working independently as a private chef and teaching adult and youth culinary classes for Central Oregon Community College. She continues to look for creative and important ways to tie together food, adventure, environmentalism, social justice and travel.
