Silvina Galmozzi
Biography: Silvina (Silvi) Galmozzi is a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she was born and raised. Spanish being her mother tongue, she never thought it would lead her to a fulfilling and exciting career. In 2017, Silvi moved to Bend, Oregon, where she has had many opportunities to serve the community. She started as a medical interpreter and moved on to become a language instructor, translator, and proofreader. Silvi graduated with her bachelor's degree in Spanish with a minor in Anthropology from Oregon State University. She has taught Spanish at the Waldorf School of Bend, community classes at COCC, and Bend Language Institute. As a translator and proofreader, Silvi recently has had the opportunity to work with author Dianne Crampton, translating her book Tigers Among Us into Spanish.

This blended level course is for students with a minimum of two to three years of college level Spanish or the equivalent. Students should have a working knowledge and command of most tenses. This course will contrast the uses of the preterite and imperfect tenses, expand the uses of the present subjunctive tense, and refine usage of vocabulary using idiomatic expressions, slang and difficult grammatical principles. It will introduce more complex uses of the subjunctive mood, new vocabulary, and related expressions to expand the communicative strategies of the student. Advanced use of vocabulary and intricate grammatical structures will be taught through literature.
