Biography: Laura Craska Cooper approaches wine with an analytical but humorous approach. Her goal is to give you basic skills to describe your wine preferences so you can find the perfect bottle for a meal or a celebration, look competent when staring at the "wall of wine" at the supermarket, and ask just the right question of a server. Long before becoming a trained sommelier (with honors) through formal education at the Wine & Spirits Education Trust in London, Laura's first introduction to wine was at a community education class in Pittsburgh, so she too, can relate to facing that scary leather-bound restaurant wine list and wondering what to do. A lawyer by day, she usually enjoys traveling to wine destinations to learn from winemakers, but in a time of pandemic, she has been traveling the world through wine, sampling offerings from exotic places like Turkey, Lebanon, Croatia, and Texas. Laura has been hosting and teaching "virtual wine tasting" since COVID19 struck, and knows how to make a class fun and educational. She has been an in-person wine appreciation and education instructor in Central Oregon for 10 years, and previously wrote about wine in a local newspaper.
