In this hands-on class, you'll learn how to prepare delicious meals over a campfire using cast iron cookware, foil and charcoal. Whether you're camping, hunting, overlanding or simply enjoying your backyard fire pit, you'll gain practical techniques for creating flavorful, satisfying meals in the outdoors. Discover how to select the right Dutch oven for your cooking style, control cooking temperatures with charcoal and properly season, clean and care for cast iron cookware. Working together, the class will prepare a complete three-course campfire meal while building the confidence and skills to recreate these recipes on your own adventures. No previous camp cooking experience is required, just come ready to cook, learn, and enjoy great food around the fire.\n\nFinal class session is field day, location TBD. Students will meet at Chandler Lab, then self-transport to the location. Please bring a lunch, water and snacks. Dress for the weather.
