In this class, join local Master Beekeeper Jimmy Wilkie to learn all about the basics of beekeeping in Central Oregon. You will learn basic honey bee biology, understand how and why honey bees do what they do, identify the different products of the beehive and talk about the benefits of bee products and how they can be used in our everyday lives. Explore what it takes to become a beekeeper, including a discussion of the tools, gear and hive equipment (cost, where to get bees, location and more), and learn about how best to support the natural progression of a hive throughout the year.
