Course Description: Sponsored Dual Credit Training - WR121/WR122
Sponsored Dual Credit (SDC) trainings provide an opportunity for high school instructors to meet the qualifications to teach dual credit coursework. SDC trainings are developed and facilitated by COCC faculty in the respective discipline. Each SDC training is designed to align with one or more COCC courses. The format of SDC trainings may vary, however, most include a summer intensive and a Professional Learning Community (PLC) that meets at least once/term throughout the academic year.
This SDC training/PLC is designed to prepare high school instructors to articulate COCC's Academic Composition (WR 121) and Argument, Research, and Multimodal Composition (WR 122).
Summer training session is August 1 (Zoom) and August 8 - 10 (in-person). Participants will also be required to meet as part of a Professional Learning Community throughout the 2022-23 academic year, dates/times TBD.
High school instructors are expected to have taught the high school course/s that align with the COCC courses included in this training for a minimum of one academic year before participating in this SDC training/PLC. High school instructors are eligible to articulate WR 121/122 while participating in this SDC training/PLC, so that would allow articulations for the 2022-23 academic year.
By participating in an SDC training/PLC through COCC, the expectation is that high school instructors will articulate the respective course/s with COCC and not another college or university.
School district will be invoiced at a rate of $250 plus materials ($65)/high school instructor. There is no cost to the instructor at time of registration.
