Course Detail: Mandarin Chinese 101 (First Year)
Join COCC professor Lin Hong and learn alongside COCC credit students in this introductory Mandarin Chinese class. Chinese 101 is designed for students who have little or no knowledge of the Chinese language. The course begins with an introduction to the sound system of Mandarin Chinese and moves on to basic skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. It is taught by using a functional approach, an engaging video program, and robust multimedia integration to help students explore the richness of Chinese language and culture. There are no prerequisites for this course. This course is a blend of face-to-face classroom instruction with online instruction resulting in a reduction of classroom seat-time. A significant portion of this class will require participation online. Students must have frequent, regular, and reliable access to a computer with internet browser software and e-mail. Assignments and exams are optional for Continuing Education students.
