Micro Course Information: CMWR180 - Influence and Persuasion in the Workplace

Influence is key to success. In this micro course, you will learn strategies to enhance your powers of persuasion, build confidence, and increase  your influence to help you and/or your team make a true difference in your workplace or community.  With so many competing demands on people's time and with priorities constantly shifting, teams and individuals must communicate clearly and persuasively to get buy-in from internal and external stakeholders and make progress on their initiatives. On an individual level, gaining influence can also improve your odds of getting noticed and position you well for a promotion or recognition. You and/or your team will come away from this course with an enhanced ability to communicate more persuasively to gain support for the projects and ideas that are most important to you.


After successfully completing this micro course, you'll be able to:    

  • - Identify appropriate and credible sources to support your position
  • - Discern optimal opportunities to present a well thought out position regarding matters in the workplace
  • Develop skills for persuasive writing and verbal communication

Micro Course Outline: 


Unit 1 -  Introduces three central features of workplace persuasion: understanding workplace culture, persuasive techniques, and credibility of sources.

   

Unit 2 - Teaches you how to identify and use certain techniques to improve your written communication. In this unit, you'll become familiar with passive/active voice, email etiquette, and continue your learning about persuasive messaging.


Unit 3 - Explore strategies for persuasive speech in various mediums, including formal presentations, contributions to work meetings, and informal conversations


Unit 4 - Learn how to build up your credibility through consistent persuasiveness in writing and speaking.




This micro course is 100% online, features 15 hours of engaging content, and is self-paced over 4 weeks.
