Micro Course Information: CMWR180 - Influence and Persuasion in the Workplace

With so many competing demands on people's time, it is important to communicate clearly and persuasively. In this micro course, you will learn strategies for becoming more persuasive in your speech and writing to gain traction on your ideas or proposals and to be as effective as possible in your workplace communication. Build your influence in your organization through developing your powers of persuasion! This course will cover four units devoted to helping working professionals become more persuasive in their understanding of information sources used to frame an argument (information literacy), speech and writing, and professional credibility. 


After successfully completing this micro course, you'll be able to:

Micro Course Outline: 


Unit 1 -  Introduces three central features of workplace persuasion: understanding workplace culture, persuasive techniques, and credibility of sources.

   

Unit 2 - Teaches you how to identify and use certain techniques to improve your written communication. In this unit, you'll become familiar with passive/active voice, email etiquette, and continue your learning about persuasive messaging.


Unit 3 - Explore strategies for persuasive speech in various mediums, including formal presentations, contributions to work meetings, and informal conversations


Unit 4 - Learn how to build up your credibility through consistent persuasiveness in writing and speaking.




This micro course is 100% online, features 15 hours of engaging content, and is self-paced over 4 weeks.
