Micro Course Information: GASR122 - Inclusive Workplace Strategies

In today's climate, many companies and organizations are aware of the importance of diversity and inclusion. The question is, is your workplace taking action on this awareness and doing enough to ensure that different viewpoints and strategies are brought to the table? Every workplace or group has diversity, since diversity takes many forms - ethnicity, gender, age, national origin, ability, sexual orientation, education, religion, introversion/extroversion, marital or parental status - the list goes on and on. Learning to value and celebrate the diverse identities and perspectives of others is a crucial component of creating a winning workplace or team.


In this micro course, you will come away with a wide range of strategies for fostering an inclusive culture in your company or organization, or within your department. You will also have an opportunity to reflect on what you can do as an individual to create a more inclusive environment in your department, team, or organization.. 


After successfully completing this micro course, you'll be able to:    

  • - Describe the importance and value of workplace culture
  • - Distinguish between the intent of your communication and the actual impact it has on others
  • - Articulate the importance of having difficult conversations in order to manage and resolve conflicts
  • - Develop and implement strategies for workplace inclusion

Micro Course Outline: 


Unit 1 -  Articulate the perception gap and the barriers to building more inclusive cultures, explore behaviors and policies that will close the gap and overcome the communication obstacles in organizations, and analyze workplace culture and its positive and negative effects on the work environment.

   

Unit 2 - Learn how to identify our intent, express our intent more accurately, and explore how our words and actions might impact others, regardless of our intent..


Unit 3 - Build skills to manage workplace conflicts and explore effective tools for having difficult conversations.


Unit 4 - Articulate the concept inclusion and its benefits in workplace culture, build skills to help foster a culture of  inclusion in the workplace, and reflect on what you can do as an individual to create a more inclusive environment in your department, team, or organization.


This micro course is 100% online, features 15 hours of engaging content, and is self-paced during the course open and close dates.
