T&L 2900: VIR: Everyday Science Stuff Around Us

Everyday Science Stuff Around Us course allows teachers to learn at their own pace, on their schedule, and from their own home or classroom.

Everyday Science Stuff Around Us course is a complete set of "hands-on" lessons centered around a single conceptual unit of instruction. Included in the course are; course syllabus, assessment menu, grading guide, student pages, teacher pages, safety guidelines and helps, student assessments, and teacher assessments.

By selecting to do Everyday Science Stuff Around Us the teacher can increase their science knowledge and improve their science curriculum at the same time because the teacher, as the purchaser, can use these lessons for their personal classroom use. This course is appropriate for grades K-2.

David Seela has spent 36 years in a classroom, which makes him more than aware of the challenges and rewards that go along with the title of "Teacher." With degrees from the University of Northern Iowa and Northwest Missouri State University, Seela, along with his wife, formed a goal of making science more understandable for elementary and middle school teachers. From that goal, came Seela Science.

For the past 25 plus years, Seela has written more than 2,000 lessons, which use common, down-to-earth explanations of science. Today, Seela Science is still helping teachers better understand science.

Seela was a science instructor at New Market Community Schools (1973-1983), a chemistry/physics instructor at Clarinda Community Schools (1983-2008) and was named Wal-Mart's 2004 Teacher of the Year in the state of Iowa. Currently, he's an adjunct professor at Buena Vista University and Iowa Western Community College.
